Revenue collection higher than expenditure in first 2 months of current fiscal year

The government’s expenditure in the first two months of the current fiscal year accounted for 7.49 per cent of the total allocation.

Yet, the government’s capital expenditure for the first two months amounted to just 2.7 per cent of the total allocation of Rs 302.07 billion.

Similarly, the expenditure for financial management totalled Rs 35.51 billion in the initial two months, representing 11.49 per cent of the annual target. The government has earmarked Rs 307.45 billion for financial management expenses.

The revenue collection during this period amounts to 10.47 per cent of the total annual target. Out of the Rs 1,472 billion target set for the current fiscal year, the revenue collection has reached Rs 154.23 billion.

According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), the government’s total expenditure stood at Rs 131.14 billion during the second month of the current fiscal year. In comparison, the government’s revenue collection exceeded this spending by nearly Rs 23 billion.

In the initial two months, the government collected a total of Rs 127.95 billion in tax revenue, alongside receiving Rs 13.12 billion in non-tax revenue.
