Kathmandu, May 26
The Rastriya Janata Party Nepal on Friday has announced protest programmes targeting to foil the second phase of local level elections scheduled for June 14.
The party has said it will not let the government hold the elections in Terai region unless its demands including the constitution amendment are met.
The party has called a general strike on June 1 and 2 so as to affect the nomination submission programmes scheduled for June 2.
Likewise, the party will padlock election offices in rural municipalities and municipalities on May 30 and will hold torch rallies in district headquarters on the next day.
The party has warned to announce other sterner programmes if the government does not begin procedures to endorse the amendment by June 2.
It also clarified that the party could not take part in the elections in the current circumstances.
