Kathmandu, May 24
Leaders of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal have expressed contrasting views about whether to participate in the second phase of local level elections on June 14.
Whereas most of the RJPN leaders are for participation in the polls, some leaders including Raj Kishor Yadav are of the view that the party should boycott the elections citing the constitution has not been amended yet as demanded by the party.
“Conspiracies are being hatched to defuse our demand for the constitution amendment due to the ignorance of state and cunning nature of parties or this or that reason,” Yadav told Onlinekhabar, “Understanding this, how can we take part in the elections?”
Meanwhile, the party has called a meeting to discuss the issue today.
Members of the presidium, Rajendra Mahato and Anil Jha, have returned to Kathmandu for the meeting.
It is expected that the party will decide to take part in the polls as most of the demands have already been met.
