A group of robbers murdered a new mum in cold blood after robbing her of jewellery weighing four tola, including gold chain and Mangasutra, at Dhekar, Devdaha-2, on Thursday night.
Police identified the victim as Namkala Pandey (24). Her father-in-law Devi Prasad Pandey woke up upon hearing her two-month-old baby girl crying and went to the room to check what had happened. Pandey said: When I saw my daughter-in-law lying dead, I reported the matter to police.
Namkala has knife wounds a bit above her right ear. However, Mukunda Marasini, DSP at Butwal area police office, said Namkala died in course of treatment at Crimson Hospital in Manigram.
Namkala’s father-in-law and mother-in-law were reportedly sleeping in another room when the incident happened. Her husband is a migrant worker currently based in Dubai.
Police said a search for the criminals involved in the heinous act is underway.
