Kathmandu, December 20
The Prachanda-led government has formed a four-member committee under Nepal Police AIG Bigyan Raj Sharma for a probe into Monday’s murder of Durga Tiwari, chair of Youth Association (Rupandehi), in Khaireni Bazaar, Devdaha municipality.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the committee has 15 days to investigate the incident and submit a report to the government.
Bal Krishna Panthi, spokesperson for the ministry, said they have mobilised security agencies at different customs points and bordering regions in a bid to catch the guilty.
The ministry has paid tributes to Tiwari and extended condolences to the bereaved family. According to a preliminary police probe, two motorcycle-borne individuals had shot at Tiwari in Khaireni Bazaar on Monday afternoon and fled the scene.
Meanwhile, Minister for Home Bimalendra Nidhi pledged to bring those involved in Tiwari’s murder under the purview of law.
Receiving a memorandum from Youth Association on Tuesday, Nidhi said the investigation process is moving ahead. He said the guilty will be arrested soon and action taken as per the law.
Nepal Police IG Upendra Kanta Aryal claimed that those invovled in the murder will be identified soon.
