Kathmandu, March 13
The Prachanda government has appointed Indra Baniya as minister of state for home affairs.
Earlier, Baniya was working as minister of state for culture, tourism and civil aviation.
The Home Ministry portfolio has gone to Rastriya Prajatantra Party. RPP leader Dilnath Giri is the new tourism minister.
Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi informed that Nepali Congress has decided to appoint Baniya as minister of state for home, before his departure to India on a three-day visit. Baniya is a lawmaker from Makwanpur constituency number 1.
In Nidhi’s absence, Baniya will discharge duties as acting home minister.
