Kathmandu, February 26
Rastriya Prajatantra Party warned on Sunday it will be counterproductive if the government pushes ahead the Constitution Amendment Bill in its present form. At the same time, the party said it will neither float its amendment proposal nor will it seek the existing amendment process.
Sunday’s meeting of the RPP Parliamentary Party also asked political parties to come to an agreement on Constitution amendment. It noted that the Constitution Amendment Bill, meant to appease Madhesh-centric political parties, has appeased no party.
RPP cautioned: As things stand, the Bill will not sail through the Parliament. Its outcome will be counterproductive.
RPP has stressed the need to ensure participation of all parties in local level elections slated for May by bringing Madhesh-centric parties into confidence.
