Design and display
Samsung Galaxy M53 has a glass front, plastic back and an aluminium framing build. While the phone shares similar styling to that of the Galaxy M33 5G, it has a completely new design compared to its predecessor. The back panel features a squarish camera panel, under which an LED flash resides. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone, which is not quite expected from a phone of this price range.
Though having a large battery, Samsung Galaxy M53 is only 7.40 mm thick and weighs only 176 grams. The phone is available in three colour options: green, blue and brown.
On the front is a centred punch-hole Super AMOLED Plus display with a resolution of 1,080*2,408 pixels and 394 PPI density. The display also supports a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. This will allow a more precise touch and also smooth scrolling through the contents on the phone. Furthermore, the display also has a Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Basically, this is the exact same display seen on its predecessor Samsung Galaxy M52.
Cameras
Samsung Galaxy M53 features a quad-camera setup on the back with a single selfie shooter on the front. The phone boasts a 108MP camera sensor on the back which is accompanied by an 8MP, 123 degrees ultrawide and a couple of 2MP depth and macro sensors. An improved camera sensor would have been much appreciated instead of the 2MP sensors on the phone.
On the front, it houses a 32MP selfie camera sensor and the camera performance of Samsung has always been up to the mark.
Both the front and the rear camera can record videos in 4K resolution at 30fps. The rear camera has autofocus and also has a 10x digital zoom feature but it’s not the same case with the front camera. The user can also enjoy slow-motion videos in HD resolution at 240 fps.
Performance and storage
Samsung Galaxy M53 runs on One UI 4.1 based on Android 12. The phone is powered by a new MediaTek Dimensity 900 (6nm) chipset while the graphical duties are handled by Mali-G68 MC4. This is a fast mid-range chipset with an integrated 5G modem. The phone also has a vapour cooling chamber so that the user can enjoy a prolonged gaming session or long video calls without worrying about the phone getting heated.
For the storage, the phone comes with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage with 6GB and 8GB RAM. The memory can be further expanded to 1TB with the help of a microSD card, but you will have to sacrifice one of your sim cards to do so as there is no dedicated slot for the card. Samsung Galaxy M53 also features a RAM expansion feature that helps the phone to improve its performance.
Battery life, connectivity and others
Samsung Galaxy M53 features a large 5,000mAh non-removable li-po battery that supports a 25W fast charging feature. This power can support up to 17 hours of LTE and Wifi internet usage time, up to 19 hours of video playback time, 87 hours of audio playback time and up to 32 hours of 4G talk time.
The phone features dual sims with the support of a 5G network. It also supports dual-band Wifi is NFC-enabled. For wireless pairing with other devices, the phone features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity whereas it uses a USB Type-C 2.0 cable for charging and wired pairing. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone and it does not have stereo support on its speakers. However, the phone supports Dolby Atmos audio when stereo headsets and Bluetooth speakers are connected to the phone.
