Kathmandu, November 28
Sanjip Rai from Khotang has won the fifth edition of the Himalaya Roadies.
Rai was declared the winner of the show during its grand finale on Monday and was awarded a cash prize of Rs 1 million along with a Yamaha motorbike.
This was Rai’s third attempt. He was previously eliminated from the competition during the physical audition.
“I have taken this victory as the biggest achievement of my life,” said Rai. “I request all young people of my age not to give up in life.”
Rai initially aspired to become a British Gurkha but shifted his focus to a career in music after being unable to fulfill that dream. Beyond being a singer, he has also delved into rap, having released four songs.
In his immediate response following the title victory, Rai reminisced about the arduous tasks and formidable competitors he encountered during his journey on Himalaya Roadies.
Bishwa Magar, who is the runner-up of Himalaya Roadies received Rs 50,000.
Himalaya Television Chairperson Dharma Raj Bhushal along with sponsors of the program presented the prizes to the winners.
In the season’s final episode, finalists faced the challenge of ascending a hill near Phewa Lake in Pokhara while carrying logs and wheels. Rai outpaced Magar, reaching the hill’s summit faster, leading to his declaration as the winner.
The announcement of the winner and runner-up took place on the shores of Phewa Lake.
Executive Director of Himalaya TV, Shyam Kandel, and Managing Director of Yamaha Nepal, Bishnu Agarwal, graced the occasion with their presence.
