Shankharapur bus accident: Saty Sai Academy mourns loss

Kathmandu, February 13

A picnic trip organised by Saty Sai Academy, based in Chabahil’s Maijubahal, ended in tragedy when the bus carrying students met with an accident in Shankharapur Municipality-5 on February 12 .

As of the latest reports, three people have died, and 40 others are injured. According to Sankhu Police, the injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals.

The entire school community is in mourning. Principal Marichman Limbu, overwhelmed with grief, was unable to speak when briefly contacted by Onlinekhabar. “I have no words. This was an unimaginable tragedy,” he said emotionally.

Parents are continuously calling the principal, seeking updates on their children’s condition.

According to Shankharapur Municipality Mayor Ramesh Napit, the accident occurred while the bus was returning from the picnic. “The group had gone for a picnic. The accident happened on the way back,” he said.

The cause of the accident remains unknown, but the road in the area is narrow. Police have taken the driver into custody.

The deceased have been identified as Krishal Puri (11) from Urlabari-7, Morang; Suresh Tamang (24) from Balefi-7, Sindhupalchok; and Shushanka Dotel (14) from Bhimsengola, Kathmandu.

Krishal was pronounced dead at TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj, Suresh at Nepal Medical College, and Shushanka at Shankharapur Hospital, police confirmed.
