Kathmandu, August 19
The government has decided to name Gen Purna Chandra Thapa as the country army chief.
A meeting of the Cabinet on Sunday afternoon decided to appoint Chhetri to the post, Minister for Information and Communication Gokul Prasad Banskota told media persons.
Thapa’s term in office will begin on September 9, a day after the serving CoAS Rajendra Chhetri, who is currently on leave, retries. Thapa is currently serving as the acting CoAS as per the tradition of the Nepali Army.
