Tree plantation and rituals mark PM Oli’s 73rd birthday in Jhapa

A special ceremony, including prayers and rituals, was held in Jhapa to mark the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli. In celebration of the occasion, 73 trees were planted, and the site was named “Janmotsav Park” (Birthday Celebration Park).

The event took place in Dhanushkoti, Ward No. 2 of Kankai Municipality, where 73 oil lamps were also lit. The rituals were organised under the leadership of the Shri Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple and Dhanushkoti Dham Development Committee, along with Sukedangi Community Forest and Kankai Municipality Ward No. 2. After performing the traditional Ashtachiranjivi worship, tree planting was conducted in a nearby forest area.

Balram Risal, chairperson of the community forest, officially announced the naming of the plantation site as “Janmotsav Park” in honour of Prime Minister Oli’s birthday.

The event was attended by CPN-UML central committee member Govinda Thapa, Kankai Municipality Mayor Rajendra Pokharel, Shivsatakshi Municipality Deputy Mayor Naramaya Karki, Ward No. 2 Chairperson Balram Rai, Community Forest Chairperson Balram Risal, and Dhanushkoti Dham Chairperson Bhakta Bahadur Poudel, among others.
