CPN-UML lawmaker Mohan Baniya has been arrested on the charge of raping a woman recently. The former minister was arrested at the Nepalgunj Airport on Monday evening.
DSP Madhu Sudan Neupane of the Banke District Police says Baniya had landed at the airport from Kathmandu before he got arrested.
Earlier, on February 10, a 40-year-old woman had filed a complaint at the DPO claiming she was raped by the leader who represents Mugu of Karnali in the federal House of Representatives.
In the complaint, the alleged survivor had claimed Baniya invited her to a hotel room saying he would return her Rs 2.5 million but committed the crime on February 2.
Mohan Baniya, however, was denying the charge.
