Kathmandu, October 24
The Department of Roads says the unseasonal rainfall last week caused a loss of Rs 1.05 billion to the road network across Nepal.
The report comes days after the Ministry of Agriculture revealed the country’s agriculture sector incurred a loss of over Rs 7 billion due to the floods, inundation and landslides.
Speaking in a meeting of the Development and Technology Committee in the House of Representatives on Sunday, the department’s Director-General Arjun Jung Thapa shared the estimation based on the reports the department received from affected districts.
The disasters had halted vehicular movements along 10 highways of the country, and four of them are yet to come into full operation, according to him.
Over 100 people died due to floods, landslides and inundation caused by the unseasonal rainfall across Nepal in the past few days last week.
