Kathmandu, March 28
The US Embassy in Kathmandu organised a Celebratory Networking Event for prominent Nepali women on March 27.
The event saw the presence of 50 leading Nepali women from various sectors. Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sewa Lamsal was the guest of honour at the event. It also highlighted a video address from the US Ambassador Dean R. Thompson to all the participating women.
Welcoming the attendees, US Embassy spokesperson Zehra Naqvi said, “The US Embassy is doing this Celebrating Women’s Voices event to recognise and honour women, and also to create opportunities for all of us to connect at a different level, learn a bit about each other’s journeys, and hopefully help all of us push for greater diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.”
One of the unique features of the event was the creation of an admiration wall with the pictures/names of each attendee, with red envelopes hanging underneath. Guests were invited to fill out notecards with notes of admiration for any guests they admired the most and leave them in the envelope.
