Kathmandu, December 4
The central bank of Nepal says banks and financial institutions can now charge people for using other banks’ ATMs to withdraw money from the accounts at other banks from Friday again.
Since March, the banked had waived the extra charge so as to enable people to withdraw money from their nearest ATMs as the country went on a lockdown to control the coronavirus spread.
In July, the banks had tried to reimpose the additional charge, but the Nepal Rastra Bank in its monetary policy for the new fiscal year directed the banks to waive the fees until the impact of Covid-19 crisis exists.
But, revising the policy, the central bank allowed the banks to collect additional charge again.
