Kathmandu, July 13
The chairman of a ward has been arrested on the charge of child sexual abuse in the Kailash rural municipality of the Makawanpur district, south of Kathmandu.
Police arrested Bhuwan Singh Ghalan, the chief of ward 9 of the local unit on the child sexual abuse charge, on Tuesday. The law enforcers had received a complaint against him from a student last week.
Following that, the Makawanpur District Court issued a warrant ordering his arrest.
In the complaint, the alleged survivor claimed Ghalan sexually abuse the child on July 2 in Hetaunda when the child was there to participate in the President Running Shield Sports Competition.
