The newly established Sajha Party has claimed the votes its candidates received in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City in the May 14 elections have established itself as a reliable alternative in Nepali politics.
After results of the Capital city have been announced after 14 days of elections, the party spokesperson Surya Raj Acharya said the votes cast for the party were encouraging as the party was yet to expand its organisation.
The party’s mayoral candidate Kishore Thapa had finished fourth in the polls with 18,496 votes whereas the deputy mayoral candidate Nirupama Yadav had received 11,533 votes to secure the third position.
Meanwhile, the party extended congratulations and best wishes to newly elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor of the KMC, Bidya Sundar Shakya and Hariprabha Khadgi respectively.
The Sajha Party said it would provide all kinds of necessary support to the new leadership.
