Kathmandu, August 15
A woman has died in Gatthaghar, Bhaktapur, after being hit by a truck.
The traffic police were conducting checks when a truck with registration number Na 6 Kha 2173 hit a scooter with registration number Ba 49 Pa 8944 that was stopped by the roadside. The impact of the truck dragged the scooter several meters.
The woman riding the scooter died at the scene, according to Bed Bista, Chief of the District Police Office, Bhaktapur. The woman’s identity has not yet been confirmed.
Following the accident, a crowd of agitated people gathered and protested. Vehicle movement in the area has been disrupted. There has been stone-throwing between the police and protesters, and the situation in Gatthaghar is currently tense.
