Morang, January 21
A woman died when police opened fire during a clash with cadres of the United Democratic Madheshi Front, in Rangeli, Biratnagar, on Thursday. Police have taken her body to Koshi zonal hospital. They are yet to ascertain her identity.
The situation turned tense when UDMF cadres allegedly tried to intervene in a UML gathering in Rangeli. Police teargassed protesters and fired around 40 rounds in the air to bring the situation under control.
After it learnt that Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli will attend the gathering, the UDMF had started its protest. Instead of Oli, UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel attended the gathering.
