World Bank sends mission to support Nepal agricultural project

Kathmandu, September 5

The World Bank has sent a mission to Nepal to support the implementation of Project for Agriculture Commercialisation and Trade (PACT) being run by the Ministry of Agricultural Development.

PACT is the largest project for agricultural development in Nepal run by the government and is partly financed by the World Bank. Of the total budget of USD 81 billion, the World Bank covers the share of USD 60 million.

The Project says the team arrived in Kathmandu on Monday and will return on September 13.

Task Team Leader of the Bank, Patrick Verissimo, has led the team comprising representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organisation as well.

The team is scheduled to visit the project implementation sites in Nawalparasi and Rupandehi districts during the sojourn. Likewise, it will hold meetings with officials of the Ministry of Agricultural Development, Ministry of Livestock Development, Ministry of Finance and National Planning Commission.
