Police in Kathmandu on Friday arrested notorious smuggling suspect Yunus Ansari in possession of fake Indian banknotes.
The son of former minister Salim Miya Anasari and the operator of National Television, Ansari had served a jail sentence for his involvement in illegal banknote transactions and drug dealing a few years ago. He was shot inside the jail then.
A police team arrest him among four persons at the Tribhuvan International Airport today.
Gajendra Thakur, Chief of the TIA Customs Office, informs that police confiscated the banknotes packed in two briefcases from their possession.
The exact amount of banknotes is yet to be communicated.
It has been learned that three persons including Ansari had landed at the airport from a Qatar Airways flight whereas the fourth person was there to receive them.
