Kathmandu, July 19
Nepal Army’s bomb disposal squad defused an IED in Sinamangal of Kathmandu on Wednesday. The IED was not a bomb said Nepal Army.
Krishna Prasad Bhandari, information officer of the Nepali Army, informed that the wires were found to be attached to the Nokia mobile and were wrapped with black tape to make it look like a bomb.
A suspicious item was found in front of the shutter of Khotang Halesi Jewelers near Sinamangal Bridge this morning.
The bomb disposal team of the Nepali Army was called on the suspicion that the object wrapped with black tape and the wire sticking out could be a bomb. But it was found that the object was not a bomb but was placed only to create fear.
Kishore Yadav, the owner of the house in Sinamangal, where the IED was found, said that he had been threatened, demanding Rs 500,000. After he refused to give the ransom, an IED was found in front of his shop.
CCTV footage shows a person was seen walking with a suspicious object around 7 am today. Based on the CCTV footage, the police have also arrested a suspect.
A pamphlet of Hamro Party Nepal Utthan Krantikari Party was also found near the IED.
Investigations are underway.
