The government has announced it will operate four temporary Covid-19 hospitals in the Kathmandu valley by this weekend.

As per a plan of action issued by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the following places will boast a Covid-19 hospital by this Saturday:

  1. Bir Hospital’s new building
  2. Kharipati of Bhaktapur
  3. Dahachok of Kathmandu
  4. Ichangunarayan of Kathmandu

The structures in Kharipati, Dahachok, and Ichangunarayan were also used during the pandemic last year also.

Of them, the Bir Hospital’s Covid-19 hospital will serve at least 500 Covid-19 patients. Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel had consulted OPMCM Secretary Khaga Raj Baral and some Bir Hospital officials in this regard a few days ago.

Bir Hospital’s new building is recently constructed with Chinese assistance and yet to be used.
