The Investment Board Nepal has shortlisted six companies for the feasibility study of proposed Naagdhunga-Dhulikhel metro railway project.
The Board had called for applications from international companies for the feasibility study, detailed project report and preparations for the project around four months ago.
Accordingly, the Board shortlisted two Chinese, one Japanese, one Indian, one Korean and one Turkish companies, according to the Board’s spokesperson Uttam Bhakta Wagle. Total 23 companies had filed applications.
The government of Nepal itself will fund the feasibility study.
Meanwhile, the Board claims the 45 kilometre project will be complete in next four years. The project will cost around Rs 180 billion.
The Board plans to construct the project in build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) model.
Earlier, the National Planning Commission had recommended the government to establish a railway line from Naagdhunga of Kathmandu to Dhulikhel of Kavre. Accordingly, the Board had decided to conduct a feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report.
