Kathmandu, February 3
President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, has conferred the title of honorary general of the Indian Army on Nepal’s Chief of Army Staff, General Rajendra Chhetri, at his office.
Chhetri had got a formal invite for the occasion from the chief of the Indian Army, General Dalbir Singh.
Nepal and India confer the title of honorary generals on chiefs of each other’s armies in keeping with a military tradition.
In a press release issued earlier, the Nepali Army’s Directorate of Public Relations said CoAS Chhetri is leading a nine-member team. Chhetri was scheduled to meet chiefs of the Indian Army Chief and Air Force, apart from calling on India’s home minister, defence minister, and external affairs minister.
