Kathmandu, February 9
Nepali Congress senior leader Kul Bahadur Gurung, in comments following the death of party President Sushil Koirala, said on Tuesday that the party may veer off from its path.
At the party’s office in Sanepa, Gurung recalled the words of the late BP Koirala, one of the founders of the Nepali Congress and a former prime minister, who had indicated that the Congress may deviate from its path after the demise of the old guard.
Gurung said: The days of deviation, which BP had indicated, will come if Nepali Congress general convention members fail to elect a leadership that can protect the legacy of the party and gain strength from this profound loss.
NC youth leader Gagan Thapa said that Koirala could not implement the constitution in whose promulgation Koirala had played the lead role. The onus to implement the constitution is now on NC leaders, Thapa said.
