Nepal Oil Corporation has urged Indian Oil Corporation to supply 40,000 MT of cooking gas to Nepal in April. NOC made this request in view of a deepening crunch of cooking gas in the market, despite smooth supply of the esssential from India.
Mukunda Ghimire, NOC spokesperson, told Onlinekhabar IOC has taken the request positively, expressing hope that the gas import will increase.
On an average, Nepal consumes 29,000 MT of cooking gas.

According to Ghimire, India is providinng 1,800 tonne gas to Nepal every day. He says this will increase in a few days.
In April, we will import more than 35,000 MT of cooking gas, NOC said. Ananda Ram Regmi, spokesperson for the Ministry of Supplies, said they plan to increase import and step up monitoring to ensure availability of cooking gas in the market.
We are trying to increase gas import from India and find the root cause of the gas shortage, he said, adding: We will have no option but to import gas from third countries if gas crisis persists. Homework is underway to bring cooking gas from third countries, including China, Regmi said.
