Bhaktapur, April 11
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party President Narayan Man Bijukchhe had a meeting at the latter’s residence in Kamal Vinayak, Bhaktapur, on Monday.
The two leaders discussed speeding up post-quake reconstruction work and providing relief to earthquake victims.
Talking to the media at the end of the half-hour talk, Bijukchhe said he urged PM Oli to task local bodies with the reconstruction work.
Real victims will get relief easily only if local bodies are given the responsibility of post-quake reconstruction, Bijukchhe said.
“Local bodies can even manage land for those victims, who do not have houses and land,” Bijukchhe said, adding: That’s why we are asking the Prime Minister to let local bodies handle post-quake reconstruction work.
Prime Minister Oli said he will take a decision after holding talks with the National Reconstruction Authority.
Prime Minister Oli’s wife Radhika Shakya, NWPP President Bijukchhe’s wife Shova and Prem Suwal, chief of NWPP’s foreign department, were present at the meeting.
