India mobilising NC, CPN-Maoist Centre, Madheshi parties for toppling Oli govt: Bijukchhe

Bhaktapur, July 13

At a time when the coalition of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre is striving to unseat the KP Oli-led ruling coalition, through a no-confidence motion in the Parliament if need be, Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party says India is behind the bid to topple the Oli administration.

NWPP President Narayan Man Bijukchhe made these points at a face-to-face that Rafat Sanchar Club had organised, in Bhaktapur, on Wednesday.

  • India wants to replace the Oli government, hence this plot. In this game of chess, Madheshi parties are playing the role of soldiers.
  • If Nepal and China fix visit of Chinese President to Nepal, such a visit may be in the interest of Nepal and Nepali people. Keeping this in mind, India mobilised Deuba (Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba), Prachanda (CPN-Maoist Centre Chair) and Madheshi parties to topple the incumbent government and foil a possible visit.
  • The Congress and the Maoist party made a plot for toppling this government after holding a meeting at the residence of Speaker Onsari Gharti. This has put a question mark on the neutrality of the Speaker.
  • Forming a new government is not easy. There are constitutional complexities associated with it.
  • In other countries, presidents call parties concerned to show their majority (when an incumbent government is in crisis). President has a key role to play in this context in Nepal. President should act by mobilising legal advisers. No one should push President into controversy
