Kathmandu, August 3
The Nepali Congress and the CPN-Maoist Centre are again holding talks with the Federal Alliance on Wednesday, in a bid to bring the alliance to an understanding.
In the talks that will take place at the Legislature-Parliament’s Shankar Hall before election for Prime Minister, leaders will try to give final touches to the understanding.
On Tuesday, leaders of the three parties had held talks throughout the day and managed to prepare drafts of seven-point and three-point deals. But a full-fledged deal did not materialise.
Meanwhile, RPP-Nepal, which was part of the erstwhile KP Oli-led government, has decided to vote against the lone prime ministerial candidate, CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Prachanda. The party made this decision at a meeting on Wednesday morning.
Nepal Parivar Dal, another partner in the Oli-led coalition, on the other hand, has decided to vote for Prachanda.
Ek Nath Dhakal, chair of the party, told Onlinekhabar: We have decided to vote for Prachanda because Prime Minister has already resigned, there is only one candidate in the race for the PM and there’s an enabling environment for implementation of the new Constitution.
This party has two seats in the Parliament. In the latest power equation, the number of parties opposed to Prachanda’s candidature has come down to seven.
