Kathmandu, October 19
RPP-Nepal, the fourth largest party in the Parliament, has objected to what it called Speaker Onsari Gharti’s ‘attempts to disallow’ its representation in the Impeachment Recommendation Committee, which is yet to take shape.
The House is preparing to form an 11-member committee, apparently to initiate the process for tabling an impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki.
Dil Nath Giri, chief whip of the party, said they will create obstructions during Prime Minister’s House address slated for Wednesday if Speaker Gharti does not ensure the party’s representation in the committee.
According to a source, preparations are afoot to form the committee by including four lawmakers each from Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, two from the CPN-Maoist Centre and one lawmaker from any other party.
Non-inclusion of the fourth largest party in the House (in the committee) is objectionable, Giri said, adding that they will obstruct the House if their demand goes unheard.
