Prime Minister Prachanda has expressed dissatisfaction with government secretaries for non-implementation of his government’s decisions and directives.
PM expressed dissatisfaction at a meeting he had convened at his office to acquire information from secretaries of different ministries about the status of implementation of his government’s decisions and directives.
He expressed worry over the fact that victims of quakes will have to spend the winter in sheds this year as well.
PM said: “One and a half years have passed since the quakes, but the situation is such that the victims will not have their houses rebuilt this winter as well. What led to this situation? Why could not you people do the needful?”
Quoting PM, a secretary said: What is the reason behind lack of progress in post-quake reconstruction work. I am not happy with the pace of work.
Prachanda noted that his government had managed to distribute the first installment (Rs 50,000 for each affected family) of financial aid meant for quake victims.
PM then issued fresh directives to secretaries and said: My office has been recording people’s grievances and sending them to you people for removal of the grievances. What progress have you achieved so far on this front? You inform me about the progress.
And he also demanded to know from the secretaries why they were not implementing his directive to provide rice to new mothers in Karnali.
Where are the bosses?
PM pointed: In the districts, chiefs of government offices are hard to find. Why is this so?
He said: Government office chiefs should not leave their districts in the name of attending seminars and workshops. You should be able to discipline district office chiefs.
He asked government secretaries to discharge their duties by feeling a sense of responsibility and accountability.
Prachanda said: I have issued directives time and again. Now I need results. I am eagerly waiting for results.
PM’s administrative adviser, Narayan Dahal, said PM has directed secretaries to discharge their duties by focusing on public welfare.
