Kathmandu, November 27
Bhim Rawal, vice-chair of the main opposition CPN-UML, has sought resignation of Minister for Home Bimalendra Nidhi. At the same time, Rawal has challenged the Prachanda government to hold elections.
Rawal vented his ire at Nidhi for accusing his party of following in the footsteps of King Mahendra Shah.
Rawal, speaking at a programme at Reporters’ Club Nepal, said referring to Nidhi: If an individual, who gets his salary from the taxpayers, has lost his patience and is in favour of following in the footseps of Lhendup (Kaji Lhendup Dorjee), he should put in papers and go home.
He said: The UML had protested against King Mahendra’s move (usurpation of power from a democratically-elected government).
Rawal added that Nidhi should be ashamed of this accusation. He pointed that Constitution amendment is not in the interest of Nepal and Nepali peoples.
The UML leader further said the framework of Constitution amendment was prepared in India, adding that the UML will not allow amendment at the expense of Nepal and Nepali peoples.
He challenged PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to conduct elections.
Rawal said: Has this government unveiled an election plan? No. Why is the government trying to run away from elections?
