Butwal, December 5
The Butwal-centric movement against the Prachanda government plot to split Province 5 entered the sixth day on Monday.
As usual, the day witnessed demonstrations against the plot in the hotbed of the movement.
People staged protests in major Choks against the government-sponsored Constitution Amendment Bill that seeks to remove Hill districts from Province 5 and carve out a province consisting of Tarai-Madhesh districts only.
A rally taken out from Chauraha converged into a corner meeting at Traffic Chok after passing through Milan Chok, Buspark and Pushpa Lal Park.
Protesters say they will continue with their demonstrations unless and until the government withdraws the Bill.
Mukunda Marasini, DSP at Area Police Office Butwal, said the movement has been peaceful so far. We have bolstered security in view of the movement, he said.
Leaders and cadres from CPN-UML, Rastriya Janamorcha, CPN-ML and Akhanda Nepal Party are taking part in protests, with Nepali Congress making it clear through a press release on Sunday that the government’s amendment proposal is acceptable to it.
