Kathmandu, February 17
Two people died when a container truck rammed into a scotter in Machhapokhari, Balaju, on Friday.
DSP Santosh Tamang of Metropolitan Police Circle Balaju said the speeding truck (Na 5 Kha 8465) hit the scooter numbered Ba 77 Pa 3208. The knock forced the pillion rider Rina Kumari Rai off the scooter, then the driver rolled the truck over her and fled the scene, police said.
After that, the driver left the truck and fled the scene, DSP Tamang said. But the truck was still in motion and it rolled over the scooter driver, Soniya Thapa Magar. DSP Tamang said a search for truck driver Sanjiv Lama of Hetaunda, Makwanpur district, is on.
