Dharan, March 8
The number of UDMF activists killed in police firing during the CPN-UML’s Mechi-Mahakali Campaign in Rajbiraj reached four on Wednesday morning.
Birendra Mahato of Maleth VDC-2, Saptari district, who sustained injuries in the firing, died in course of treatment at a health facility in Dharan. Other protesters, who died in the firing are Sanjan Mehata, Pitambar Mandal and Ananda Sah. Meanwhile, on the second day of the UDMF protest against the Saptari firing, life continued to come to a halt.
UDMF cadres are staging demonstrations since early morning. In the name of socially boycotting UDMF leaders and cadres, they have attacked the UML party office in Saptari.
Police have stepped up security to avert untoward incidents.
