UDMF cadres angry over the killing of four of their comrades during the Mechi-Mahakali Campaign have started attacking the houses of UML leaders. Leading district-level leaders of the UDMF are leading the stormtroopers. UDMF workers have also pelted chief election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav’s house with stones.
They have also vandalised the house of UML central leader Suman Raj Pyakurel in Rajbiraj-4. They also attacked UML leader Ramananda Dev’s Little Flower School and house based in Rajbiraj-9.
After the killing, the government has recalled Chief District Officer Uddhav Prasad Timilsina and chiefs of three security agencies. While these officials have already reported to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the government is yet to send their successors to the district.
UDMF cadres also vandalised the UML party office in the district, and torched the party’s flag. UDMF has called an indefinite strike in Saptari and has threatened to socially boycott UML supporters.
