Kathmandu, March 10
Former Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha said on Friday that the Indian government should apologise to Nepal for the SSB killing of a Nepali national at Ananda Bazaar of Kanchanpur district.
Shrestha, who is also a leader of the ruling CPN-Maoist Centre, expressed anger over the Indian Embassy’s statement that SSB had no role in the killing of the Nepali national, Govinda Gautam. He said India should compensate the bereaved family, take action against the guilty party and inform Nepal about the action taken.
At the same time, he has advised the government of Nepal to take diplomatic initiatives on the matter. He said: Diplomatic role does not mean keeping quite or agreeing to do nothing.
