Kanchanpur, March 12
Thousands of people poured in at the funeral procession of Govinda Gautam, who died in SSB firing during a territorial dispute in Ananda Bazaar, Kanchanpur district, on Thursday.
The procession is to reach Dodha River banks after passing through Punarvas municipality, Gautam’s hometown. Preparations are afoot to perform Gautam’s last rites with state honors.
The funeral procession taken out from Seti zonal hospital in Dhangadhi will reach Punarvas after passing through Doke Bazaar, LN Chok, Chauraha and Trinagar customs. After offering of tributes at Punarvas, the procession will take Gautam’s body to Doda river banks, Kanchanpur district administration office said. There, Gautam’s last rites will be performed with Nepal Police offering him a 11-gun salute.
