Kathmandu, June 13

The Non-resident Nepali Association will help the Kathmandu Metropolitan City make the Nepali capital a livable city, says its President Shesh Ghale.

During a meeting held with the newly elected KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya, Ghale said the NRNA could work together to improve the status of Kathmandu in terms of living environment and infrastructures here.

“Non-residents Nepalis are living in some of most livable cities of the world,” Ghale told Shakya, “We can make Kathmandu more livable if experiences, skills and technologies of those cities can be extended to Kathmandu.”

He proposed to sign a formal agreement between the NRNA and the KMC to establish sisterhood relationship with some cities.

In response, Shaya said the KMC could learn a lot from non-resident Nepalis.

In particular, Shakya said he had expected support from the NRNA for public transport management and construction of parking garages.

During the meeting, Ghale had informed that the NRNA would construct its central office in Baluwatar of Kathmandu and asked for needful support for that from the KMC.
