Kathmandu Kalinga Literary Festival 2025 to host over 300 writers

Kathmandu, April 1

Kathmandu is set to host the 4th edition of the Kathmandu Kalinga Literary Festival (KLF) on September 13-14, 2025. According to a press statement released by KLF, the festival, organised annually in Nepal since 2022, will bring together over 300 writers from Nepal, India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka under the central theme “Beyond Borders: South Asian Literature in a Changing World.”

Founder and Director of KLF, Rashmi Ranjan Parida, emphasised that the event will celebrate literature, music, dance, and poetry while fostering cultural and literary ties between Nepal, India, and South Asia. The festival will feature panel discussions, poetry readings, book launches, and masterclasses, addressing themes such as identity, diaspora, climate change, and social engagement in literature.

KLF CEO Ashok Kumar Bal stated that the event will highlight Nepal’s literary, spiritual, and cultural heritage and its contribution to global literary movements. The Kathmandu KLF is part of the broader Kalinga Literary Festival network, which also hosts events in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

With a focus on fostering cross-border literary collaborations, the festival aims to be a significant platform for emerging and established voices in South Asian literature.
