Kathmandu, September 22
The Nepali Congress has maintained its constant lead over other parties as more results have been announced from various local units of Province 2 that held elections on Monday.
So far, the results form 63 of 136 local units have been out and the party has won the top position in 21 municipalities and rural municipalities.
The UML, which had emerged as the biggest force in the first and second phases of local level elections, is in the fifth position in the Province 2 tally as it has only secured the victory in eight local units so far.
The CPN-Maoist Centre is in the second position with the win in 13 places.
The Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and the Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have equal status as of 4 pm on Friday as they have won in nine places each. The RJPN, however, is ahead of the Forum in terms of the number of places it is leading where the counting is underway.
The Nepal Democratic Forum and the Nepali Janata Dal had won top positions in two and one local units respectively.
The counting is underway in other 73 places and results are expected in within next two days.
