Kathmandu, January 17
The CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre, two constituents of the left alliance, have finalised the model of partnership for National Assembly elections.
Of total 56 seats of the upper House, for which the polls will be held, the UML will field 29 candidates whereas the Maoist Centre will get 14 positions. Decisions will be made about rest of 13 positions after consulting other parties which may join the alliance, according to the model finalised by a six-member joint task force.
The task force’s coordinator and UML leader Subas Chandra Nembang says the Party Unification Coordination Committee consisting top leaders of both the parties will make a final decision in this regard.
Whereas the polls have been scheduled for February 7, the candidates have to file nominations on December 24.
