Kathmandu, January 29The government has decided to allocate federal resources to run two hospitals named after influential members of the Koirala family.
A meeting of the Cabinet on Monday decided that the federal government shall manage the Tanahun-bsed GP Koirala Centre for Respiratory Diseases and the Banke-based Sushil Koirala Cancer Hospital from now on.
“Girija Prasad Koirala and Sushi Koirala are not just leaders of the Nepali Congress, he is our leader too,” said Minister for Information Gokul Banskota. He added that with the decision, the Nepali Congress’ demands have been addressed.
The Nepali Congress had been obstructing parliamentary proceedings after the government left out the two hospitals on the recently updated list of centrally managed hospitals in the country.
