Kathmandu, February 10
The government is about to finalise the draft for a new civil service law, according to which there will be not any reservation for people of Khas Arya communities, sources say.
Likewise, the bill has proposed reducing the ratio of seats reserved for women, Dalits and indigenous communities. Reservation for Tharu and Muslims has been added.
The removal of Khas Arya from the reservation beneficiary list is likely to be drawn into controversy as the constitution states that members of these communities also get reservation while competing for various opportunities. Election laws have allocated reservation quotas for such communities accordingly.
Similarly, the law draft proposes that one person can enjoy reservation benefit for only one time during their career. If anyone is qualified for reservation under more than one categories, they now have to choose only one category.
The government is preparing to table the bill in Parliament soon.
