Nepal wins two more gold medals on Saturday
Nepal won two more gold medals in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games on Saturday. For the first time in the country’s sports history, it won a gold medal in wrestling yesterday as Sangita Dhami defeated her opponent from Bangladesh in the match held in Janakpur on Saturday. Likewise, Kiran Singh Bogati won another gold medal in a marathon in Kathmandu.
So far, Nepal has won 43 gold medals in this edition of the regional sports event and is in the second position of the medal tally.
Deuba stresses action against betrayers
Nepali Congress president and the main opposition leader in Parliament, Sher Bahadur Deuba, has said his party should take action against its own leaders and cadres who have been working against the party in order to ensure an election victory next time. Speaking at a function organised in Butwal on Saturday, Deuba said he was determined on such action. He, however, expressed some satisfaction over the party’s performance in recent by-elections.

Five killed in Chitwan auto-rickshaw accident
Five persons died in an auto-rickshaw accident in Rapti municipality of Chitwan district on Saturday evening. One person has sustained critical injuries.
The Area Police Post in Bhandara says the three-wheeler (Na 1 Ha 6409) turned turtle after the driver lost control over the vehicle.
Foreign employment department, police at odds over trafficking complaints
Of late, the number of complaints regarding the practices of human trafficking in the name of foreign employment has increased, but the government has failed to effectively take action against them as there is no clarity about which agency looks after such cases.
Officials at the Department of Foreign Development say Nepal Police rejected their proposal on dealing with such issues together, but the police say they are working with the department. Whereas the national police organisation established an anti-human trafficking bureau on its own, it did not respond to the department’s proposal to sign an agreement for cooperation.

Kathmanduites mistake smart dustbins for charging points, decorations
Upon asking common people of Kathmandu on why they have failed to properly utilise smart dustbins that the city government placed in various places around a year ago, Onlinekhabar has found that many people have not recognised it. Some of the pedestrians that Onlinekhabar talked to said they thought those were charging points for solar lamps on the roadside or some other decorative items.
Meanwhile, the local government has also accepted that it failed to make people aware of the newly introduced bins.
Spectators chant Kalapani slogans at Nepal-India football match
As women’s football teams of Nepal and India faced each other under the ongoing South Asian Games in Pokhara on Saturday, thousands of Nepali spectators chanted slogans such as ‘Kalapani belongs to us’. The anti-Indian sentiment has reached its height once again after the southern neighbour published its political map, putting the disputed land in Kalapani in its territory, last month.
Meanwhile, Nepal lost the match 1-0.
