Kathmandu, January 6
The government has filed a case as per the National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act against a car driver who killed a tiger in Bara of southern Nepal on Saturday.
The Parsa National Park filed a case against Ajaya Mishra, 53, a resident of Balara municipality-3 of Bara, at the District Court, according to the national park’s Assistant Conservation Officer Ramesh Yadav. The court has remanded him in custody for further investigation.
The national park has assigned its assistant ranger Deepak Tiwari as the investigation officer. Mishra has already begun recording statements of Mishra.
After hitting the big cat, Mishra himself had informed police about the incident.
As per the act, any person killing a wild animal has to pay a fine of Rs 500,000 to Rs 1 million or to be jailed for five to 15 years or to face both actions.
