Kathmandu, March 9

The government has decided to conduct this year’s Secondary Education Examinations from May 27 to June 7.

A meeting of the National Examinations Board decided the dates, informs the NEB Member Secretary Durga Prasad Aryal.

Likewise, the meeting also decided to conduct Grade XII final exams from June 9 to 18.*

Whereas the exams used to be held in late March and April respectively every year, the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent disturbances in the academic calendar will defer the exams by two months this year.

As the government has already decided that the new school year will begin in late June this year, the exams will be conducted before that, informs the board.

In the last week of December last year, with a target to hold the exams by mid-June, the board had issued a notice calling the schools and students to fill up examination forms.

It is expected that around 500,000 students will attend the exams.

The exams were postponed at the 11th hour in the last session as the fear of coronavirus infection increased. Later, the government had authorised schools themselves to grade their students, which the National Examinations Board had certified.
