Kathmandu, March 26

Officials in the capital have decided to make it mandatory for public bus passengers to wear masks in the capital as the next wave of the Covid-19 pandemic is looming large.

A meeting of the Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli with officials of the Department of Transport Management, traffic police, transport entrepreneurs and workers made the decision.

Parajuli says the District Administration Office would take action against people not wearing masks on public buses.

Likewise, the officials have decided to not board passengers above the seat capacity and manage physical distance as far as possible, manage handwashing facilities at bus stations, and make monitoring effective.

As the number of cases has surged in India recently, Nepali officials have expedited discussions to adopt protective measures.
